About the site.
I've made a lot of directories in the past––video game fanlistings, Inuyasha, and The Legend of Zelda just to name a few that I remember––but none of them really hold a candle to Emotion which has lasted longer than all of them put together. I don't know what I was thinking at the time I made the directory, but I don't think the thought ever crossed my mind that it would take off like it did, or even still be around 10 years later. Honestly, I'm completely shocked. There was a time where I thought about closing Emotion and even a time where I almost adopted it out. Moments of weakness which I dare not repeat. I'm sure if I were to do that now I'd have a riot on my hands, haha!
Emotion was opened on February 4, 2007 and was created by me out of my love for shrines. It doesn't matter if I'm the one making them or if I'm visiting one made by someone else, I think they're absolutely amazing. I love reading about what people have to say and quite often learn something new about the subject––plus no two shrines are ever the same, even if they're about the same thing! It is pretty incredible. But why did I name the directory "Emotion"? Easy! Often when I'm reading a shrine they invoke an emotional response and hit me right in the gut. Oftentimes I'll have trouble seeing the page because I'll be in tears, eheh. I don't know if it's like that for anyone else, but it is definitely the case for me, never mind the fact that anything can make me cry.
I made Emotion strictly list anime, manga, and video game shrines which probably sounds weird, but to be honest those were my loves at the time and I've heard no one complain. Plus there are a lot of them that cross over, Pokémon being the first example that pops into my head. Nowadays that interest has shifted more toward video games, but I don't plan on changing the idea of the site anytime soon, if at all. I've had this site way too long for that. I will admit though that sometimes the thought pops into my head to expand the site to include other forms of media just because there are no directories for them. Maybe it will happen one day? I don't know but we shall see.
Currently we are on version 12 of the site which features beautiful artwork from the upcoming video game The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for the Nintendo Wii U and Nintendo Switch. Honestly, I wasn't expecting to use this image, but after being inspired by it I couldn't help it. Besides, Emotion has never featured a Legend of Zelda layout, despite it being one of my favorite video game series. The layout was made by me using Adobe Photoshop 7.0 and coded by hand using Notepad. The image used in the layout was found at RPG Site and patterns used were found at Subtle Patterns. Fonts used are called Diesel Rudolf and Candara. Previous layouts used may be found at my layout archive.
